Geostatistical Properties of Deformation Bands

In this section, we will cover shear bands, compaction bands, and dilation bands as defined by Aydin et al. (2006). Unfortunately, there is not any information about the statistical properties of dilation bands. The statistical properties of shear bands and compaction bands are presented under separate links for their lengths, heights, and thicknesses. The scaling relationships of these structures are also presented in terms of the displacement discontinuity, either shearing or closure. Use the links below for these properties.
