Precipitation and Recrystallization

Precipitation is the formation of a solid from a solution during a chemical reaction or when the solution is supersaturated by a compound. The kinetics of precipitation are temperature dependent, especially at low temperatures associated with shallow burial depths. Coatings on grain surfaces will obstruct the precipitation of dissolved grain materials, if the grain and coating have different composition.
