Mechanisms and Mechanics of Multiple Pressure Solution Seam Sets

The basic process producing multiple sets of non-orthogonal pressure solution seams is an earlier pressure solution seam being subjected to a certain degree of shear to produce a new pressure solution seam at an angle different than 90 degrees with the sheared one. For a summary of these models and the resulting kink angle configurations, please see 'Splay Pressure Solution Seams' and 'Mechanisms and Mechanics of Splay Pressure Solution Seams.' If a flaw or a set of flaws of any kind, in particular a system of pressure solution seams, is subjected to stresses producing splay pressure solutions, then, the resulting network will be multiple sets of non-orthogonal pressure solution seams.
