Particulate Flow

Particulate Flow refers to a deformation mechanism similar to ductile-like flow of material. In granular materials this mechanism is accomplished by rotation and movement of grains with respect to neighboring grains without any significant grain fracturing, cataclastic comminution, and intergranular pressure solution. This mechanism is common in unconsolidated or poorly consolidated sediments with no or weak cement under low confining pressure.
